RenewJeans grew out of a 2013 recycling project by Bui Thi Kim Ngan in Hanoi and was formally launched as a business in 2019. The company turns customers' old denim into bags, backpacks, wallets and jean apparel, reusing tags, buttons and belt loops and finishing pieces with hand embroidery to cover wear marks. It now runs five shops and consignment stores across Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hoi An, and by mid-2024 had converted over 10,000 old denim items, earning a Top 10 placement in the Climate Launchpad Vietnam National Final.
