Mekong Rustic was founded in December 2014 by Huong Duong Travel Management Company, represented by Nguyen Ngoc Bich, as a community-based tourism project on Cai Be and Tan Phong isles in the Mekong Delta. Rather than building a conventional resort, it trains local farmers, cooks and boat owners in guiding, homestay hosting and food and beverage service, and channels tourism income directly to participating households.
