H&P Architects was established in 2009 in Hanoi by architects Doan Thanh Ha and Tran Ngoc Phuong. The firm designed the Blooming Bamboo House, a 62-square-metre prototype built mostly from bamboo on a foundation of salvaged plastic drums so it can withstand floods up to 1.5 metres, with a total build cost of around 2,500 US dollars. Its work focuses on low-cost, locally sourced construction for vulnerable and flood-prone communities.
