At a glance:
Learn to see the bigger picture: how everything is interconnected, and how to design sustainable solutions using the Symbiosis in Development (SiD) framework. This masterclass is given by Tom Bosschaert, founder of ViCo, and world-leading expert on systems thinking and sustainability, with over 25 years of hands-on experience on 4 continents.

Course insight:
This masterclass introduces participants to systems thinking as the foundation for effective sustainability work. You will learn how to map complex challenges, identify leverage points, and design integrated solutions that balance social, ecological, and economic aspects. The training is based on Except’s Symbiosis in Development (SiD) framework - a globally applied method that combines scientific rigor with practical tools.

Through case studies, collaborative exercises, and interactive discussions, participants practice how to analyze real-world challenges such as climate change, urban planning, and organizational transitions. The program emphasizes not just theory, but also practical application: how to connect ideas across disciplines, translate systems thinking into actionable strategies, and create solutions that are resilient in the long term.

Key Outcomes:
Participants will be able to apply systems thinking to sustainability challenges, use the SiD framework to map and analyze complex situations, and design integrated solutions. They will leave with practical tools to improve decision-making, uncover opportunities, and drive sustainable transformation in their organizations and communities.

Cocreation based masterclass

In this training, you collaborate in multidisciplinary teams while familiarizing yourself with the Symbiosis in Development (SiD) framework. SiD is the first complete framework for systemic sustainability, rooted in systems thinking, system mapping, design- and complexity-thinking, and co-creation. The framework has been successfully applied in projects by global business and industry leaders to catalyze the sustainability of whole sectors.

The course increases sustainability literacy and leadership skills. You become more fluent in recognizing patterns and interconnections in society. As a result, you are able to take on increasingly complex issues through strategic thinking. You leave the course with a practical toolbox for lasting change.
